The two attached images are a 1920 kit-house floor plan (Harris Home No. M-1022, public domain): the first is the enlarged floor plan, the second the full catalog page with the overall size (26 ft x 24 ft) and porch (26'-0" x 6'-0"). Read every dimension written on the drawing and build a 3D model of the house structure with render_part, in inches: - exterior walls on the 26'-0" x 24'-0" footprint, 6 in thick, 96 in (8 ft) tall, on a 4 in slab; - interior partitions 4 in thick placed so the rooms match the plan: Chamber 9'-0" x 10'-9" (front-left... check the drawing for placement), Bath, Pantry, Kitchen 8'-6" x 11'-3", Hall, second Chamber 10'-0" x 9'-3", Living Room 14'-6" x 11'-3"; - door openings 32 in wide x 80 in tall where the plan shows doors, window openings 36 in wide where it shows windows; - the front porch as a 26'-0" x 6'-0" x 8 in slab in front of the living room wall. Before building, list every dimension you read from the drawing in a table (room, width, depth) and mark any value you had to assume. Then build it. Choose units "in" and give the STEP download for AutoCAD.
Research session
I've read both drawings. Key printed dimensions: overall 26'-0" × 24'-0", porch 26'-0" × 6'-0", and six labeled rooms. Building the shell now — every inch value is converted exactly (×25.4) to millimetres inside the Replicad code.
Caption over the 400-character limit — shortening and resubmitting.
The 3D model is built from the dimensions on the plan and is now compiling in your browser (it finishes after this turn — the card's breadcrumb will confirm the measured size). Here is every dimension I read, with assumptions flagged.
Dimensions read from the drawing
| Element | Width | Depth | Where it came from |
|---|---|---|---|
| House, overall | 26'-0" (312 in) | 24'-0" (288 in) | printed across the top, down the right side, and in the catalog "The Size: 26 ft. x 24 ft." |
| Front porch | 26'-0" (312 in) | 6'-0" (72 in) | printed on the porch |
| Chamber (rear-left) | 9'-0" (108 in) | 10'-9" (129 in) | printed in the room |
| Chamber (front-left) | 10'-0" (120 in) | 9'-3" (111 in) | printed in the room |
| Living room (front-right) | 14'-6" (174 in) | 11'-3" (135 in) | printed in the room |
| Kitchen (rear-right) | 8'-6" (102 in) | 11'-3" (135 in) | printed in the room |
| Bath | 6'-6" × 5'-3" | — | printed in the room |
| Pantry | not dimensioned | — | labeled only |
| Hall | not dimensioned | — | labeled only (drawn as an octagon) |
| Closets ("CLO" ×2) | not dimensioned | — | labeled only |
Placement correction: the 9'-0" × 10'-9" chamber is the rear-left room, not front-left — the porch marks the front, so the 10'-0" × 9'-3" chamber (10 ft = 120 in, the wider of the two) is the front-left one and the 9'-0" room sits at the back-left. I placed them that way.
Values I had to assume
| Assumption | Value used |
|---|---|
| Bath orientation (label order ambiguous) | 5'-3" wide (63 in) × 6'-6" deep (78 in) |
| Pantry clear width | 16 in (narrow, as drawn), full-width opening rather than a 32-in door |
| Hall (octagon in plan) | simplified to an L-shaped circulation space; boundaries set by the rooms around it |
| Closets | 2 closets, 38 in wide × 24 in deep, opening south into the front chamber |
| Living-room width vs. walls | modeled 14'-8" (176 in) so 10'-0" + 4-in partition + living room fit the 26-ft interior; the plan's 14'-6" leaves a ~2-in rounding gap |
| Window openings | 36 in wide (given) × 48 in tall, sill 36 in above floor — only the width is on the plan |
| Door/window positions along walls | not dimensioned on the plan; placed at plausible bay centers |
| Cellar stair ("DOWN", rear-right) | omitted — an addition outside the 26×24 rectangle, not part of the requested footprint |
Interior clear heights: walls 96 in on a 4-in slab; partitions 4 in; exterior walls 6 in; porch slab 8 in with its top flush to the house floor.
What to check on the card
When the build finishes, confirm the overall measured extents read about 312 × 288 in in plan (with the porch adding 72 in toward −Y) and 100 in total height. If the breadcrumb says build=FAILED, tell me the error line and I'll correct and resubmit.
AutoCAD download: on the model card use STEP — it carries the exact geometry and opens directly in AutoCAD, Fusion, SolidWorks or FreeCAD. The same card also offers STL (3D printing) and SVG plan/elevation sheets with overall dimensions.
Two things I can tighten on request: (1) I can model the octagonal hall and the CLO closets closer to the drawing if you confirm their sizes, and (2) I can add the rear cellar-stair addition as a separate body.
