Frequently asked questions

What is Cortexa?
Cortexa is an AI research agent that plans investigations, runs live tools across scientific databases, executes analysis code, and returns cited research abstracts you can revise and share — its own written summaries of a session, not the abstracts of the papers it read. It connects to PubMed, arXiv, Semantic Scholar, ClinicalTrials.gov, patent databases, and more.
Is Cortexa a replacement for professional advice?
No. Cortexa is a research context tool. It surfaces and synthesizes published evidence but does not provide medical, legal, financial, or clinical advice. Always consult qualified professionals for decisions in those domains.
How does billing work?
Cortexa uses a credit-based system. Free accounts receive a monthly credit allowance. Plus, Pro, and Enterprise plans include larger allowances with configurable overage caps. You can view your usage and manage your plan in Settings.
Can I cancel my subscription?
Yes, at any time. Go to Settings → Billing and click "Manage subscription." Your plan remains active until the end of the current billing period. No cancellation fees.
How do I export my research?
Every session can be exported as Markdown, JSON, or PDF. Abstracts and presentations can be saved as PDF from their viewer, or shared with a read-only link from the artifact card.
Can Cortexa export to PowerPoint, Keynote, or Word?
Not directly. Cortexa generates its own cited abstract and presentation formats. Use Save as PDF to export, or copy the content into your tool of choice.
Is my data private?
Yes. Your sessions, files, and analysis results are private to your account by default. You can explicitly share individual items with an organization workspace, or create a public read-only link for supported sessions and artifacts. We do not use your research data to train models. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
What databases and tools does Cortexa use?
Cortexa accesses verified sources including PubMed, arXiv, Semantic Scholar, ClinicalTrials.gov, NCBI Gene, ClinVar, UniProt, USPTO patents, GitHub repositories, and more. Visit the Tool Catalog for the complete list.
Do you offer an API?
Yes. Every plan includes API and MCP server access for programmatic research workflows — usage draws from your monthly credits. Documentation is available under Developer API.
